Hoathly is a picturesque parish set on the edge of the Ashdown
Forest. The parish comprises three
distinct and individual villages:
In the centre of West Hoathly is the Village School West Hoathly is an historic village and its lofty location made it a prime site for a warning beacon on Finche Field. Up until forty years ago the parish was served by the Bluebell line part of the Brighton and South Coast railway. Although West Hoathly station has long since been demolished the platforms can still be seen and the sound of steam trains as they emerge from Sharpthorne tunnel can still be heard from high up on Finche Field.
